How to create shared search scopes in Search server 2008 EXPRESS?

I am trying to create a shared search scope but I cannot find the right place to do this. The only place I can edit scopes is on the link marked with red in this screendump:

    dump1

When clicking this link I navigate to to local scopes in next screenshot, where 2 predefined scopes already are shared:

    dump2

Then I try to click Site actions -> Site settings and then this screen is showed:

    dump3

If I click Search scopes in the above screen this picture appear:

    dump4

    - But even these scopes are not shared when created!? And then there are the red error message. I dont get it!?

I need to create shared search scopes since I am writing my own webservice on the search server.  I hope someone can give me a step by step guide to create these shared search scopes in Search Server 2008 EXPRESS.  Thanks in advance! :-)

The admin dashboard does indeed not offer a link to the shared scopes page. But it does not mean shared scopes are gone in MSS 2008. Just use the following URL to view and manage shared scopes:

    http://server/ssp/admin/_layouts/viewscopes.aspx?mode=ssp

    Hi Lars,
I have the same problem with search scope.
Initially i went to my Search Center Site i created > Site Actions > Site Settings > Under Site Coll Admin > Search Scopes.
Then i clicked on a new scope and i created a new one added a new title and selected a display a display group.
The added a rule. But when i go to my Search Center Site i don't see any DropDown list to select to choose a scope before i do a search.

After having a look our advice on this post you proposed the link http://server/ssp/admin/_layouts/viewscopes.aspx?mode=ssp but then i try it on my own server like so:

    http://myserver:7070/ssp/admin/_layouts/viewscopes.aspx i get error

Exception of type 'Microsoft.SharePoint.Portal.WebControls.UnknownModeException' was thrown.

Any advice from you will be very well appreciated.

    Thanks

    Hi Ninjacoder

Did you forget the mode=ssp part of the URL? I can see the error appears when you leave this out. So the following URL should work for you:

    http://myserver:7070/ssp/admin/_layouts/viewscopes.aspx?mode=ssp

    Cheers
    Lars
