SharePoint - Externalize Content BLOBs in the Clouds

Tom Miller

Senior Technical Consultant

BlueThread Technologies

Tom will present an overview of StoragePoint. StoragePoint is a product for MOSS and WSS that externalizes the content BLOBS from the content database to an external store. The external store can exist on a SAN, NAS or even a cloud storage solution such as Amazon S3, Microsoft Azure or others. By externalizing content from the content database, MOSS administrators can expect to reduce content database size by up to 95%. This can lead to a number of benefits such as improved indexing performance, multiple backup and recovery options, compression, encryption and increased scalability of document libraries and lists.

Tom is a consultant with BlueThread Technologies who is responsible for product evangelism for StoragePoint. Tom has had experience designing and implementing SharePoint based solutions at multiple companies since its 2001 debut with a focus on Electronic Content Management (ECM).
